htaccess css rewrite
I've made a css file and I want it to work like this:
I use these rules:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^styles/([^.]+)$ file.php?file=$1 [L]
And get 404 Error. Why?

Donald Trump insists he has “no choice” but to stay in the race for the Republican presidential nomination as he continues to come under fire from fellow GOP candidates.
The comments come as his campaign finds itself in disarray after the revelation that Trump had used profane language to describe Sen. John McCain’s military service during a Thursday interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
“I have no choice. I would rather go back to real estate,” Trump told reporters on Saturday at the Iowa State Fair. “I think I’ve done a good job for the country. I’ve done a great job for the country.”
Trump added that he would stay in the race until the New York businessman has clinched the nomination.
